You Can Make This: Plywood Word Art

So this idea was found at Kara's blog who got the idea from Mandi :) It's pretty much the best idea ever, and although it isn't the cheapest way to decorate your walls, it's pretty good considering how large it turns out.

So here it is, my two wall art thingies, hehe.

Step 1: find words you can't live without.
(more points if you find a ginger baby wearing them on a t-shirt)

Step 2: buy supplies
-plywood (mine are 2' x 2') 2 pieces $16
-vinyl letter stickers (Helvecta 3" - OfficeMax) 2pks $12
-spray paint 1 can $3

Step 3:put vinyl stickers onto plywood... buy 2 packs because one doesn't have all the letters you'll need. If you are making 2 boards you can reuse the letters if you are careful.

Step 4: Spray paint... and try not to get high.
I put mine on a cardboard box to provide flatness, but also prevent the grass from getting too "dirty"
here is some spray paint inspiration... although all you need to do is give your board a good cover...

Step 5: Dry... do a little dance, make a little dinner and get down with ya bad self. or take emo photos of your reflections...

Step 6: Peel off the letters... do this carefully if you are going to reuse them for a 2nd board.

Step 7: Soak up your awesomeness... okay this is optional, but seriously, you just made a kick butt piece of art.

So like I said, I made 2 pieces. One for my best friend Chris who likes to think he is really "thug" (hence the Kid Cudi lyrics) and then one for me with a favorite quote.

You can check out Kara's version, which was 36" x 34" if I'm remembering correctly. And then Mandi's version was much larger and probably used 4" or 5" letters.

Hope these inspire you as much as they did me to go make your own. Let me know if you do!
